Ryerson MBA Students in the Running to be Crowned Canada’s Next Top Ad Exec

Canada’s Next Top Ad Exec Announces Top 25 Semi-Finalist Teams

TORONTO (February 12, 2016) – Some of the brightest minds in Nova Scotia will be competing for the title of Canada’s Next Top Ad Executive (Top Ad Exec). The program has had its biggest year yet with 231 teams from 32 schools competing for top spot. This year brings David Glow and Rebecca Hazell one step closer to walking away with the title and the keys to their very own 2016 Chevrolet Spark.

For the past 9 years, Top Ad Exec has aimed to provide undergraduate and MBA students with opportunities to apply their learning and receive industry critique on their work. This year’s lead partner Chevrolet asked students to develop a fully integrated marketing communications solution that increases the number of first time new vehicle buyers who have Chevrolet in their top 2 consideration set.

A diverse panel of over 60 judges, from industry and academia combined their 1000 years of experience to narrow the field to the Top 25 from ten business schools. Ryerson University finds its spot in the top 25 again since the 2013/2014 year when it walked away with the title and a Chevrolet Camaro. In addition to being recognized as Canada’s next generation of marketing talent, both teams are now eligible for exclusive job opportunities with companies such as GM, Canadian Tire, PepsiCo and McDonald’s. Canadian Tire has also rewarded each team with $1,000 worth of gift cards!

The teams now have until February 22nd to complete the next phase of the competition: a comprehensive marketing strategy report. If they are successful, they will face a high power panel of 20 plus judges when the Top 10 present their ideas on March 29th at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Does Ryerson have what it takes to prove their worth?
